Fertilizer Application on Wheat and Barley with DJI Agras T50 Drones

Task

We received a request to apply nitrogen fertilizers to cereal crops despite challenging weather conditions. Access roads to the field were waterlogged, so traditional machinery could not enter. The client has been working with agri-drones for the third year already, so they invited us to quickly complete the task using DJI Agras T50 drones.

How the Work Was Carried Out

We started with wheat, applying ammonium sulfate. The application rate was 100 kg/ha, and the treated area covered more than 25 hectares. Then we moved to a barley field, where we worked with urea. The conditions were far from ideal: weak crop development and windy weather. However, even under these conditions, the T50 performed perfectly. The total treated area was around 50 hectares.
The work was completed in less than 5 hours, including loading and field-to-field relocation.

Impressions and Conclusions

Together with the team, we were once again convinced that:

DJI Agras T50 allows application rates of up to 200 kg/ha without breaking the granules, even when working with crystalline forms.

The coverage uniformity is high, with no drift or missed areas.

T50 productivity is 2.5–3 times higher than that of the T30, which is critical for farmers who need to work within short weather windows. We have clear productivity standards and load calculations for the drone, making the service easy to scale. This field operation proved once again: drones are not the future — they are already the present, especially when work needs to be done quickly, precisely, and without unnecessary costs.
